Attached is the flyer which provides some information about the conference at the American University of Armenia (AUA) titled “Empowerment of Girls and Women in Armenia” which I’m chairing. This conference will be convened in Yerevan, at AUA, on April 21-22, 2017. Go to EGWA2017.AUA.AM to learn more and to register. Please consider sharing this flyer with your like-minded friends.
We have internationally renowned figures as our plenary speakers, and more than 60 speakers who will offer their talks in parallel breakout sessions. We will address social, psychological, health, financial, political, educational, cultural, leadership, philanthropic, violence, discrimination, gender/human rights, career development, and many other factors that positively or negatively impact the lives of girls and women. We will hear about strategies and models that have proven effectiveness for empowerment. We will examine how all of the above can be folded into an academic approach to women’s empowerment. We are also planning a celebration of Armenian women across time in the second half of the second day, which will include musical and dance performances, an art exhibition, and a fabulous reception.
Come join us, attend the conference, and be in Yerevan for the April 24-th commemorations as well. Don’t worry if you can’t arrange to be in Armenia for an extended period of time. I promise you, even a few days will be the beginning of a rich and fabulous personal journey — as it was for me 25 years ago when I first visited Armenia on a five-day mission.
I will be in Yerevan to welcome you to this conference. Come for a quick taste of Armenia, even if your will have to travel by yourself. Come and see how deeply the sights, sounds, tastes and issues of Armenia will sink into your heart…
With warm regards,
Shakeh Kaftarian, Ph.D.
